There are two main address types in Thailand, street-based and village-based address types. For maps evaluation purposes, complete basic address of each address type in Thailand should include:

Village-based will be the format for addresses located on an unnamed street/sub-street, or on rural/local highways, especially those highways that are only labeled in numbers. This will be explained more in details later in the guidelines.
Result addresses should always be verified with official addresses. This document will detail the rating rules specifically for Thailand.
1. Address Components in Rating Interface
The chart below illustrates the general relation between address components in Thailand, as well as the associated checkbox in the rating interface.
The table below outlines the required (and optional) address components for general result types. The rule applies to all Maps Evaluation tasks with some exceptions to Autocomplete.

2.2 Approaching a result address
Results and official resources in Thailand often return varying combinations of address components that are different from the minimum requirement. Here is how we can accurately rate the Address Accuracy despite those variance:

Example 1: Official address follows street-based addressing
A POI result returns “991 ถนนพระราม 1 ปทุมวนั กรุงเทพมหานคร ประเทศไทย” in the rating platform. Following the steps above we get:

As per table in section 2, both sub-district and district are required address components.
Official address of Siam Paragon (991 ถนนพระราม 1 ปทุมวนั กรุงเทพฯ 10330) only includes ปทุมวนั without any
sub-district or district identifier. Under section 3.7 of this GL, it is indicated that we should consider ปทุมวนั as ,ุ
district, therefore, the sub-district แขวงปทุมวนั is missing. Additionally, region/state กรุงเทพมหานคร is duplicated and therefore, ‘other issue’ needs to be ticked.
The address above will be rated Incorrect – Sub-Locality, Other Issue.
Example 2: Official address follows village-based addressing
A POI result returns 333/101 หมู่ 9 ตาํ บลหนองปรือ อาํ เภอบางละมุง จงั หวดั ชลบุรี 20260 in the rating platform. Following the steps above we get:

Result address returns street name, even though official address follows village-based addressing. As seen from the table above, street name is only an optional component for village-based addressing. Since the returned street พัทยาสายหนึง does provide access to the address. No penalty is needed for returning this street. On the other hand, moo and sub-district which are the required components for this result type are missing. Associated checkbox for missing Moo and sub-district is Sub-Locality.
As a result, the address above will be rated Incorrect – Sub-Locality.
As per the global Maps Search Guidelines section 8.1.1, in case official resource is not available, we can rate according to the consensus from multiple sources. In case three sources have the same information, it is most likely correct. For TH, only when it is impossible to find the third source, it is then ok to use only two reliable resources to confirm the address.
For convenience purpose, the word ‘official address’ in this CSGL can refer to either address that comes directly from official website and/or address that comes from the consensus of at least two reliable resources.
It is very important to include the URL of the official website or at least 2-3 links from reliable resources (when there is no official website) together with detailed comment whenever a result is downgraded and when any checkbox for incorrect address component is ticked.
We should try our best to verify the given street name and/or street number, or look for the correct street name and/or street number in case the information is not returned. However, there are still significant number of POIs/Businesses’ official addresses that do not list the two components. For example, it is possible that official address of a school does not list street number. In such case, street number is not a mandatory address component. Similarly, it is possible that official address of a temple does not include both street number and street name. In this case, both street number and name are not the required components.
When main street and sub-street have different names, both streets are required to be included as part of the address (unless, an official address includes only one of the streets). Missing one of them will result in the Incorrect Address – Street name rating.

If an address is located on sub-street which inherits the name of the main street with added number (for example, main street is “Thanon Suk Sawat” and sub-street is “Soi Suk Sawat 26”), main street is no longer a required component. This is unless a POI’s official address still includes both sub-street and main street.

Street type (ถนน/ซอย) is usually specified on the POI’s official website or on street sign, which can be seen from street imagery.
Returning ‘ซอย’ instead of ‘ถนน’ results in the ‘Incorrect – Street Name’ rating. Exceptions are when ‘ซอย’ and ‘ถนน’ are used interchangeably for the same street” (Refer to Maps Search guidelines section 7.1.3).
When POI/Business address cannot be confirmed by at least two reliable resources AND multiple required address components are also missing, follow Maps Search Guidelines section 8.1.3, no official resource and missing address components – rate ‘Incorrect’ and select the associated checkbox(es) of the missing components.
To determine if we should select checkbox(es) of the missing components based on street-based addressing OR village-based addressing, follow these rules of thumbs,
Consider the address village-based when;
Consider the address street-based when;
Note that ‘Can’t verify’ is to be selected only when ALL the required address components are returned, provided street number falls within the possible range, and suggested street name provides access to the business. This is as per Maps Search Guidelines section 4.2 and 7.7.
Following the Stanford School of Law example under section 8.1.2.2. of the Maps Search global guidelines, address of a POI located inside larger entity can also be in the format that larger entity name replaces street number and street name components. Both address A and B of the same entity below are considered correct.

In Search, when district (เขต or อาํ เภอ) and sub-district (แขวง or ตาํ บล) have the same name, result only returns one of them, and there is no prefix indicating whether the returned one is district or sub-district, we will consider the returned component district. Thus, sub-district is missing.

For example, official address of ABC company is

However, the returned address in our result is

We then consider ‘ดอนเมือง’ as district (เขตดอนเมือง). Therefore, sub-district (แขวงดอนเมือง) is missing.
In Autocomplete, we instead consider that the returned component is sub-district. Note that for most result types in Autocomplete, sub-district is expected, while district is an optional component. Only for postal code and locality type results, we can consider that the returned component is district.
Using the same example, we instead consider that ดอนเมือง refers to sub-district (แขวงดอนเมือง). Therefore, no component is missing, as per the expected address components of POI/ Business result type.

3.8.1 Evaluating classification
As mentioned in section 6.3.4.1. of the Maps Search global guidelines, some classifications may seem slightly too specific or too general. As long as the classification is not misleading, consider it correct. The list of the accepted classification below is not exhaustive and will be updated overtime.

Below is a list of features that will follow POIs without an expected address rule. Please refer to the Required Components table under section 2 of this CSGL when rating such POIs. This list is not exhaustive and will be updated over time.
While village, Muban (หมู่บา้ น) or Ban (บา้ น) which refers to Thailand’s lowest administrative sub-division led by a village headman (ผูใ้ หญ่บา้ น) is to be treated as an address type result, Housing development (หมู่บ้านจดั สรร / Him™) usually managed by national housing authority (fi’niftramTM) or private companies (e.g., natwi naufl เฮา้ ส์, แสนสิริ, ศุภาลยั ) is to be treated as a POI.
Example of Muban (หมู่บา้ น) or Ban (บา้ น):

As stated in section 7.1.3. Street name – Alternative Street Names, a street can have alternate names. Be aware that the number found at the start of TH result address might actually refer to street name instead of street number. For example “34” can be an alternative name of “ถนนเทพรัตน”. Consider a street name correct when ‘34’ is returned in place of “ถนนเทพรัตน”.
Result address containing Mueang Pattaya (เมืองพทั ยา) no longer requires sub-district to be returned. This is because Mueang Pattaya already covers whole or partial areas of Nong Prue (หนองปรือ), Na Kluea (นาเกลือ), Huai Yai (ห้วยใหญ่), and Nong Pla Lai (หนองปลาไหล) sub-districts. This rule also applies the other way around.
