Confirm Data Accuracy: Best Practices – Belgium (nl_BE)

Research involves verifying the data through an official web page, an official resource or 3 reliable resources.

Official resources are used to confirm the address when the official web page does not provide a full address or if there is a conflict with the address in the result. These resources should be reliable and may include:

Social media sites claimed by the business/POI
Street imagery (any recent online imagery showing streets and buildings)
Postal authorities (for postal codes and locality names)
Government property registries

If no official resources can be found, rate according to consensus from 3 reliable sources.

Clearly unreliable sources should not be considered at all. These include directory sites such as Gouden Gids, unclaimed pages on Yelp etc.

Use official resources like businesses’ official websites, national postal service websites, and government websites whenever possible (Guidelines section 2.1.1)

If you cannot find evidence that the data is Correct or Incorrect, rate Can’t Verify.

.

To give you some guidance, please see below some of the resources that Analysts from the Belgium (nl_BE) market have reported to be helpful when performing research:

KBO – Official website of national business registry

https://kbopub.economie.fgov.be/kbopub/zoeknummerform.html

It should be used with caution, it is voluntary (not all businesses are there) and not always up to date. Can be used to see if a business is terminated and to determine the nature of the activities. Should not be used for address or name verification as this is legal information which can be different from real world.
