How do I research and find the correct information?
To improve data accuracy, it is essential to use the right resources.
This guide will help you finding the information you need from some of the official resources available in Brazil.
You will learn which those resources are, how to use them and, most importantly, when are they useful and/or essential.
You’ll find here:
Important official resources:
Step-by-step on:
Down below you’ll find some valuable resources to confirm addresses and help you with your research while rating.
IBGE – https://www.ibge.gov.br/censo2010/apps/cnefe/ <
Correios – https://buscacepinter.correios.com.br/app/endereco/index.php?t
Examples of situations when they can be useful:
When you suspect the Address Does Not Exist;
When the Address in the result doesn’t match the Address in the official Business/POI website
Receita Federal –
https://solucoes.receita.fazenda.gov.br/Servicos/cnpjreva/Cnpjreva_Solicitacao.asp
Sintegra – http://www.sintegra.gov.br/
You will need to have a CNPJ number to use the Receita Federal and Sintegra
websites.
Research the name or address of the business in other resources to obtain it. This
document will also show how in the following pages.
Examples of situations when they can be useful:
When you suspect the business is closed;
SPTrans – https://www.sptrans.com.br/terminais-corredores-e-pontos-de-parada
Rio Ônibus – https://www.vadeonibus.com.br/vdo/
In order to confirm Transit POIs details, always look for the official governmental
website that covers the transport in that city or town. Most of them have a list or
maps indicating their stops and stations.
Examples of situations when they can be useful:
→ Full Address: When the result contains a full address, it should be rated Correct if the result and official addresses are identical;
→ Street: When the result address is just a street it should be rated Correct if the result address street is the same as the street within the official address.
CNES – http://cnes.datasus.gov.br/pages/estabelecimentos/consulta.jsp (medical centers)
INEP – https://inepdata.inep.gov.br/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard (public schools and universities)
E-MEC – https://emec.mec.gov.br/ (public schools and universities)
Examples of situations when they can be useful:
• To check those places’ addresses when they don’t have an official website or official social media.
IMPORTANT
When the Address in the result doesn’t match the Address in another official
Business/POI website, but matches the one registered in those websites or on Correios,
you can accept it as correct.

When to use it?
Let’s take, for example, the address “. As we can see, using street view we find the street number 380 and then the number 366. But there is a house between these two numbers. It is not possible for us to see the street number because there is a plant blocking the view.
When none of the previous years’ street imagery shows the number for that house, it’s a good time to use IBGE website.
As we know, São Paulo city is divided in many regions. To find the official neighborhood for an address (and make our research faster), we should use Correios website (www.correios.com.br).
According to Correios, the neighborhood is Alto da Lapa.
Select an area close to the result address within TryRating or another map application that can be our reference point. By doing that, we will be able to know if our address is within the highlighted area.
Our address is really close to Centro Educacional e Esportivo Edson Arantes do Nascimento – Pelezão. By zooming in we can find the street we are looking for. Rua Princesa Leopoldina is highlighted in green and is between area 1 and area 2. We have to click in both areas to verify if the number 372 exists.
Area 1

*We cannot totally rely on this source to verify if an entity is open because sometimes the owner does not inform Receita Federal about the closure of the entity. For example, if Receita Federal mentions that a specific business is Ativa, it can both be really open, but it can also be closed and the business owner did not inform Receita Federal that he finished his business.
To find a CNPJ we need to type in a search engine the entity name plus ”CNPJ”. For example, [“Petshop Picapau” “cnpj”]. The inverted commas signal mandatory terms on the results you expect. If there are many businesses called Petshop Pica-pau, it is better to type some part of the address. For example, [“Petshop Picapau” diadema “cnpj”] or [“Petshop Pica-pau” Av Dom Joao VI “cnpj”].
There are many websites that list entities CNPJ, for example http://cnpj.info/consulta and https://consultacnpj.com/. After finding the CNPJ number, we can verify it on Receita website or Sintegra website as shown previously.
Some states of Brazil have specific Sintegra websites. To find them we should search for Sintegra and the name of state. We should pay attention to the registration status and to the registration status date.
Although the resources shown here are considered official sources, they are not mandatory.
Their use will depend on the task, each analyst will decide whether to use them or not.
