1.Name Accuracy
1.1Service-level mismatch

Chain businesses often indicate the level of service provided at that location in their name. If the result name does not reflect the correct type, it is considered a service-level mismatch and is considered partially correct (GL 6.2.2.2).

Example:

Result Name: Carrefour

Result Classification: supermarkt

Result Address: Lange Lozanastraat 170 – 2018 Antwerpen

In this example the returned name of the business is Carrefour while the official website (https://tinyurl.com/322tzjxz, print screen above) shows it should be Carrefour market, where the part market stands for the service-level (https://tinyurl.com/4vvm4wh5). The classification is correct so the Name Accuracy should be partially correct because of the service-level mismatch.

1.2Missing a capital letter

If the official business name has a capital letter while this is not returned in the TryRating result the Name Accuracy should be Partially Correct (GL 6.2.2.1).

Example:

Result Name: Mediamarkt

.

Over MediaMarkt: een körte geschiedenis

Korte Geschiedenis

In this example the returned name is Mediamarkt while the official website shows (https://www.mediamarkt.be/nl/about-us/over-ons, see print screen above) that also the second letter m should have a capital and so the name should be MediaMarkt. The Name Accuracy is partially correct because that capital letter is missing.

1.3Wrong classification

When the classification is wrong, the final Name Accuracy rating is always Incorrect (GL 6.3.2).

Example:

Result Name: Pizza Hut

Result Classification: Supermarkt

Pizza Hut is a chain business with pizzerias (https://www.pizzahut.be/nl), so the returned classification (supermarket) is not correct. Therefor the Name Accuracy should be Incorrect,

even if the result name is still correct; when the classification is wrong, the final Name Accuracy should always be incorrect.

2.Relevance rating – other existing real-world results

When rating Relevance it is important to not rely solely on what TryRating returned, and do additional research if there are for example no other existing real-world results not shown by TryRating.

In the example below the query is for a gas station, the viewport (blue rectangle) is fresh, and the user (yellow dot) inside it, so the user is the location intent (GL 2.3.2).

Query: tankstation

Viewport: Fresh

Left: what TryRating returned; Right: additional research

.

In this example there is one result returned which is a gas station Shell Express, which is inside the viewport (see left image). However, when doing additional research; e.g. by entering the query in an online map application on the user location; it is clear that there are several closer not returned possibilities from the user (see right image). So the returned result Shell Express in the left image should be rated Acceptable for distance (results inside the viewport cannot be rated Bad in this case, see GL 2.3.2) because there are several closer not returned real-world results, even if it is the closest returned result.

3.Business/POI is closed

To determine if a business/POI is closed only reliable sources should be used. This could be for example official resources, street imagery or official registry.

Example:

Result Name: KBC

Result Address: Engelstraat 2 – 8480 Ichtegem

1.Official resources

In order to decide if the business in the example above is still valid it should be verified by the official website of KBC on the store locator

AARTRIJKESTRAAT 18 8480 EERNEGEM Details en openingsuren

T. + 32 59 29 06 53

V PLUS W VERZEKERINGEN

Verzekeringsagentschap

On the official store locator of KBC (image above) it is clear that there is no branch near the expected location (which is the returned address Engelstraat 2 – 8480 Ichtegem, green dot in the image). Based on that the business can be rated closed.

2.Street imagery

Another source that can be used (e.g. if there are no official resources) is street imagery. By going to the expected location of the KBC branch in street imagery it is clear that the business did exist in 2009, but disappeared on the most recent images in 2022 (see images below). Based on that the business can be rated closed.

.

3.Official registry

Another source that can be used is an official registry. If a business is closed this is often shown in the website of KBO. Businesses can be for example retrieved by the address (https://kbopub.economie.fgov.be/kbopub/zoekadresform.html). When entering the expected address of the KBC branch (Engelstraat 2 – 8480 Ichtegem) KBO will show a list of all businesses that exist or did exist on that address. Important is that the box with “Enkel actieve geregistreerde entiteiten en actieve vestigingseenheden van actieve entiteiten.” should be unchecked (see below). Otherwise closed businesses will not be shown in the list.

This should be unchecked to see closed businesses.

In the image above is clear that there was one business on the result address which is the KBC branch which is now closed (ENT/VE Status = VE Stopgezet).
