Use to Verify | •[Sub-location] (only for clues), [Sub-district], [District] •Border of [Sub-district]/[District] |
Note | Like other resources, the information on this website may be incomplete or have errors. Use other resources to further verify if in doubt. The UPI website is only an additional resource for giving clues about possible [Sub-locations]. If there is no strong evidence to prove a [Sublocation] exists, e.g. street signs, official addresses, store fronts, then we will conclude that a [Sub-location] does not exist. |
Instructions | 1.Paste the result address in the Search Box & press Enter or click the magnifying glass. 2.If the address is right, the full address will pop up in Search Result box on the map (Figure 1), usually including the [Sub-location], [Locality] and [District]. The [Sub-district] is usually shown on the map. 3.If necessary, the Drop-down list can be used to verify [Sub-district]/ [District]’s boundaries. (Figure 2) 4.Alternatively, coordinates can be entered as a query string. (Figure 3) Example: Result address [Jalan USJ 10/1, 47620 Damansara, Selangor, Malaysia], with incorrect [Sub-district] [Damansara], missing [Sub-location] [USJ 10], missing [Locality] [Subang Jaya]. |

Use to Verify | •[Street number] •[Street name] •Side of street even/odd numbers are on |
Note | Like other resources, the information on this website may be incomplete or have errors. Use other resources to further verify if in doubt. |
Instructions | 1.Paste the result address in the Search Box. 2.A list of addresses/POIs will appear (Figure 1). Click on the appropriate one. 3.The map will navigate to the location. (Figure 2) 4.You can toggle between maps by using the Map chooser function. MyGeoMap, TM SMart Map and TM SMart Map 2.0 are among the more useful maps available. Example: Result address [19, Jalan USJ 10/1d, Taipan Business Centre, 47620 Subang Jaya, Selangor]. A list of search results is returned (Figure 1). Scroll to and click on the appropriate search result. The map will then navigate to the result’s location (Figure 2). Some maps e.g. MyGeoMap come with polygons and street numbers (certain locations) and this helps to determine street number locations and the side of the street even/odd numbers are on, especially when street imagery is unavailable. |

Use to Verify | •[Street name] •[Sub-location] •[Postal code] •[Locality] |
Note | Do remember to also use other available official/reliable resources, e.g. postcode.my, UPI and MyGeoMap wherever possible. |
Instructions | 1.Use a resource with street imagery/image search. 2.Search for storefronts/street signs within close proximity of the result. 3.You might encounter storefronts with addresses on them. If you find storefronts with URLs, you can try navigating to those URLs and look for address information in the corresponding websites. |

Step 7: Make an informed decision. | The final address is: Street number: 6 Street name: Jalan BM 3/12 Sub-location: Seksyen 3, Bandar Bukit Mahkota Postal code: 43000 Locality: Kajang State: Selangor Address rating is Incorrect, with [Postal Code] and Country Specific Issue ticked. This example is a good reminder that even official resources can have incomplete or even erroneous data, so proper research is very important. |
Assume that we are rating this result.

Steps & Description | Illustration |
Step 1: Separate the address into its components. | Unit: G1.PT.02 Larger entity: Sunway Pyramid Street number: 3 Street name: Jalan PJS 11/15 Sub-location: Bandar Sunway Postal code: 47500 Locality: Subang Jaya State: Selangor |

Note: These aren’t the only possible workflows to verify addresses. These examples show slightly complicated scenarios. The optimal workflow depends on the individual query/result and the available resources.
Addresses in [Melaka] (city), should contain only one [Melaka] as the city or state. If there is duplicate [Melaka] or [Malacca], or a combination of [Malacca] and [Melaka], select Incorrect – Other Issue. This does not apply to [Locality], [Sub-district] and [District] results.

Result Address Rating
Jalan Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka, Malaysia | Address Accuracy | Correct |
Jalan Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka, Melaka, Malaysia | Address Accuracy | Incorrect – Other Issue |
Some addresses in [Pulau Pinang] have [George Town] or [Georgetown] as the [Locality]. This will not be found in postcode.my’s website, however [George Town] is not wrong. [George Town] is the capital of [Pulau Pinang], however postcode.my’s website denotes it as [Pulau Pinang] [Locality].
If [George Town] is missing from the address, e.g. [126, Jalan Burma, 10050 Penang, Malaysia], this should be rated Incorrect – Locality.

[Federal Territories] addresses (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan) should contain the Federal
Territory name only once. There are no localities within Federal Territories. Shortened
names/recognised abbreviations of the Federal Territories can be accepted without demoting, e.g. [KL], [Kuala Lumpur], [W.P. Kuala Lumpur].

Ensure that the correct Registration Type is selected. 2.From the search result’s status, we know that this business is still existing. (Figure 1) |
