Mistake 1: Address – Incorrect Locality
POI Name: ALDI
TryRating Address: Tildasley Street, Birmingham, B70 9SJ, England Correct Address: Tildasley Street, West Bromwich, B70 9SJ, England
Explanation: When evaluating address accuracy, the locality should be verified by the Royal Mail address finder. Royal Mail confirms the address has an incorrect locality and should be ‘West Bromwich’, so address accuracy should be rated as Incorrect – Locality.
Mistake 2: Address – Incorrect Sub-locality
POI Name: Starbucks
TryRating Address: 3 Roman Way, Dartford, DA1 4FY, England
Correct Address: 3 Roman Way, Crayford, Dartford, DA1 4FY, England
Explanation: When evaluating address accuracy, sub-localities should be verified by the Royal Mail address finder. Royal Mail confirms the address is missing the Sub-locality ‘Crayford’, so address accuracy should be rated as Incorrect – Sub-locality.
Mistake 3: Address – Non-required address components
POI Name: Nacton Road Fish Bar
TryRating Address: 342 Nacton Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 9NA, England
Correct Address: 342 Nacton Road, Ipswich, IP3 9NA, England
Explanation: The required address components are listed in the UK Specific Guidelines Section 3, in this example the county ‘Suffolk’ is included in the address but is non-required component, so address accuracy is rated as Correct – with Formatting Issue.
Mistake 4: Category – too specific or general
Name: Kelly’s Nails
Address: 15 The Arcade, Bristol, BS1 3JA, England
TryRating Category: beauty_and_spa.beauty_service.beauty_salon Correct Category:
beauty_and_spa.beauty_service.beauty_salon.nail_salon
Explanation: The official Facebook page for Kelly’s Nails shows they specialise in nails, so the listing category of beauty salon is too general and a more specific Nail Salon category should be used instead. Category accuracy is rated as Approximate – Category is too general. The reverse situation can also apply, for example a general beauty salon with a listing category of nail salon would be rated as Category too specific instead.
Mistake 5: Missing or Incorrect URL

When evaluating URL accuracy, conduct research to find any official websites or social media pages for the POI. In this example, a correct Facebook webpage is listed but research shows that an official website is also available and should be used instead as the correct URL as per section 7.1 of the POI Guidelines, so the correct rating is Incorrect. If a location specific page is available then this should be provided, the Norwich location in this example.
Also, if no URL is listed in TryRating but research shows than an official website or social media page with recent updates exists, then the correct rating is Missing.
Mistake 6: Pin accuracy in shared spaces
Name: Currys
Address: Unit 1-2, Greenbridge Retail Park, Stratton Road, Swindon, SN3 3SG, England
Explanation: The Pin in TryRating (green star) appears to fall on the adjacent rooftop for the Lidl store, as confirmed by recent street imagery. As both stores are on a retail park (strip mall) with a shared car park, the Pin should be rated as Approximate and not Next Door, as there are no next door ratings in shared spaces as per section 9.2.4 of the POI Guidelines.
Mistake 7: Incorrect or Missing Hours
Name: Tower Veterinary Group – Acomb
Address: 42 York Road, Acomb, York, YO24 4LZ, England
TryRating Hours: Missing
Explanation: No hours are listed in TryRating but checking the location specific webpage on the official website, opening hours can be found. So, the correct rating for Hours is Missing.
