Task Introduction

Many Analysts appear to be unsure of how to approach this task type. Please review the following points to gain a greater understanding.

In this task you are presented with an anchor item containing information about an Entity and two comparison Items. The goal of this task is to annotate the similarity between two items.

Similar vrs Not Similar

Similar: comparison item and anchor item are about the same topic/subject/entity, but offer different dimensions. A dimension can be: result type, source of the content, opinion towards the topic/subject/entity, etc. For example:

• anchor item is a website about an artist, and comparison item is a music album by this artist
• anchor item is a movie, and comparison is soundtrack of or casting information about the same movie
• anchor item is an IMDb website about a music band, and comparison item is a knowledge page about this artist
• anchor item is a book, and comparison item is a tv series based from this book
• anchor item is a movie, and comparison item is a re-make of the movie at a more recent date
• anchor item is a podcast episode about a famous person, and comparison item is a movie about the same famous person

 

Not similar:

anchor item is a song named “I Love You” by Adele, and comparison item is a song named “I Love You” by Blink 182 anchor item is a former professional basketball player “Michael Jordan”, and comparison item is computer science professional “Michael Jordan”

Similar example 1

left item: knowledge information about novel “Alice in Wonderland” released in 1865

right item: movie “Alice in Wonderland” released in 2010, but based on the 1985 novel (discoverable through

searching “Alice in Wonderland 2010”)

These two are similar because they are about the same underlying entity

Similar example 2

When the comparison item is a different movie (Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge), but the same series as the anchor item (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) it should be marked as similar because it

the anchor item (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl)

 

refers to the same Entity/Topic/Subject (Pirates of the Caribbean).

Similar examples 3 

Anchor item is Spider-Man: No Way Home (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). The comparison item is a link to IMDb website for the movie. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10872600/ . These should be marked as Similar.

Key Points

Flagging content which is not clickable. Per guidelines – If the item is a website url, you need to open the url to understand what this webpage is about. If the item a snippet and not clickable, then search the keyword/information displayed to understand what the item is about.
If the comparison items lead to a website landing page which does not load or requires a login – be sure to Flag per guidelines. No other action is required once flagged.
Just because the Anchor Item and Comparison items have the same/ similar name does not mean that they are related to the same entity. Analysts are expected to do research to verify if they refer to same entity.
Some tasks may not always be clear what the Anchor Item Subject/Entity is. Analysts need to follow the link if present and review the material to determine what the entity is. For example Anchor Item is a link to copyright page for a large corporation. The comparison item is a link to a website about the Entity. These are considered similar.
Be sure to research both the anchor item and the comparison item. For example the anchor item may be a address to a chain restaurant. The comparison Item is a app created by the chain business. These should be considered similar.

Note: Inappropriate tag should be marked for adult / pornographic material. Albums / songs which state explicit should not be flagged in this context.
