Confirm Data Accuracy: Best Practices – Chile (es_CL)
Research requires in first place to find an official source that allow us to verify its data. If it does not exist, at least three unofficial sources in agreement with each other.
Unreliable sources should not be considered for verifying.
Use official resources like businesses’ official websites, national postal service websites, and government websites whenever possible (Search Guidelines, section 2.1.1)
For Business/POI Results, research for Name Accuracy. We should find an accurate source that allow us to verify if it is Correct, Incorrect or Partially Correct. If we don’t find
any accurate source, we should rate Name, Address and Pin as Can’t Verify. (Guidelines, 4.2)
For schools, that don’t have an official website, we can use the official Education Ministry school directory, that is updated and includes all details of public and private schools. http://www.mime.mineduc.cl/
For businesses within a mall, sometimes it is more useful to move directly to the website of the shopping mall (for example: Mallplaza.cl, Parquearauco.cl ….)
Remember for Address Results, Name Accuracy should be rated as N/A (Search Guidelines, 6.1)
For researching for Address Accuracy, check the CSG that all components of address components required for the result are present and correct
(See es_CL Country Specific Guidelines to see required components for every kind of result)
Below are some of the resources that Analysts from Chile (es_CL) market have reported to be helpful when performing research:
Helpful Map Applications, ordered by importance:

This is an example of a Facebook Page that it’s reliable and could allow us to verify the name and address of a business. It has a nickname along the main URL https://www.facebook.com/ Also, it does have a ticket along its business name that proves that Facebook has verified and checked this page. And it has updated comments and posts. The ticket and clean URLs are not mandatory, but we should verify anytime that this Business page really belong to its business.
Resources that should mostly avoid for research Name Accuracy:
Civico.com, Yelp.com, Yelp.cl, Amarillas.cl, Cylex.cl, Mercantil.com,
Amarillas.emol.com, empresasenchile.cl, laguiachile.cl, 2Gis.cl business profiles.
Here are some examples of Business aggregators. The information present in pages like those are not verified and are mostly completed by a computer, and are not useful for our research and we can’t use them for verify Name Accuracy and Address Accuracy.
5. Business profiles featured in Google Results Page. See next picture for example:
This is an Example of a Google results page for some restaurant. Check the column at the right of this page. The information of that column is not verified, and we could not use for check Name nor Address. If the button of Website does deliver to its official Website of Facebook Page, that we could use for verifying Address and Name.
6. Unverified/Unofficial Facebook Pages: See next picture for example:
Facebook now indicates when a Page has not been verified and has been created by its users. Usually its URL does start with https://www.facebook.com/page/ the name of the business and some random numbers at the end. This is not a reliable source and it does not allow us to verify Name and Address.
