1.Invalid but Reasonable Query Address

If you rate the query address as Valid, be aware that in many cases the address may still be reasonable. For example:

Clarens Rd & Beach Rd

Sea Point, Cape Town, 8060

The address is invalid as it does not indicate a single location.

The address is reasonable. As per section 4 of the GL’s example (Valencia & Cunningham Pl). The query refers to an intersection. This result is a reasonable address because the area is smaller than a block.

.

2.POI Name is Part of the Query

Business, POI (point of interest) and AOI (area of interest) names are not considered to be address components. If an address contains them, ignore them and rate based only on the components that remain once the name is removed.

POI or AOI names are never address components, but query addresses that contain them can still be valid, when removing this extra information does not prevent the address from pointing to a single location.

Examples:

.Valid

Suikerbosrand Guest House,

31 Pretorius St,

Heidelberg, Heidelberg

14P4,1,

ZA

As per section 3.3 Business names are never address components, but query addresses that contain them can still be valid. This is a full address and points to one single location. (If you take out the POI name you are still left with a full address).

Invalid but Reasonable

Andiccio24 Grayston

Helen Rd & Grayston Dr,

Sandown,

Sandton,

2031,

South Africa

As per section 3.4. AOI or POI names are not part of the address for this test. Any query that includes these names should be considered without the name. For this particular query, removing the POI name leaves the address Helen Rd & Grayston Dr, Sandown, Sandton, 2031, South Africa, which is an invalid query address, as it does not indicate a single location.

The address is reasonable. As per section 4 of the GL’s example (Valencia & Cunningham Pl). The query refers to an intersection. This result is a reasonable address because the area is smaller than a block.

Invalid and Unreasonable:

Sandton City Shopping Centre

Sandton, GP, 2196, ZA

As per section 3.4. AOI or POI names are not part of the address for this test. Any query that includes these names should be considered without the name. For this particular query, removing the POI name leaves the address Sandton, GP, 2196, ZA This doesn’t point to a single location and is invalid.

Since the address can be broken down into more specific address components (streets), it is unreasonable.

.

3.Multiple Unique Locations with Same Street Name

Tranquil Nest

R40, Hazyview, MP, 1242, ZA

POI name is not part of the address. This leaves R40, Hazyview, MP, 1242. This does not point to a single location and therefore is invalid.

Hazyview Sun

R40 Road, Hazyview, Mpumalanga, South Africa

POI name is not part of the address. This leaves R40 Road, Hazyview, Mpumalanga, South Africa. This does not point to a single location and therefore is invalid.

Is the address R40, Hazyview, MP, 1242, ZA reasonable?

If you do a map search of the different POI’s that have the same street, you will see they are quite far apart. They do not meet the eye-site rule. The address is unreasonable.

.

5.Unreasonable due to Eyesight Rule

Main Reef Road

Amalgam, Johannesburg, GP, 2092, South Africa

This address is missing the street number. The street has multiple street numbers, so this address does not refer to one clear location. The address is invalid.

As per section 4, ‘Turtle Rock Rd’ example (GL p18):

This address is Unreasonable for several reasons:

It is a large road segment that spans several blocks
There are more than 5 rooftops
It does not meet the eyesight rule.
