CONFIRM DATA ACCURACY: BEST PRACTICES – ARGENTINA AR

Research involves verifying the data through an official source or 2 reliable unofficial sources.

Use official resources like businesses’ official websites, claimed social media pages, national postal service websites, and government websites whenever possible (Guidelines section 2.1.1)

If you can’t verify the data correct or incorrect, rate Can’t Verify.

If there isn’t an official website, a government website (government entities and public services like police, fire station, transit), a claimed social media page, street imagery, and no consensus among two reliable unofficial resources (per CSGLs), rate Can’t Verify.

Pin Accuracy in CABA (Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires)

Always use http://mapa.buenosaires.gob.ar to check pin accuracy in CABA. This website is also very useful to find addresses that match in CABA and in Buenos Aires province, which is needed sometimes to determine user’s intent or relevance in a query.

1.Notice that the left side of the website will display a column of information regarding the selected location: a picture or pictures (sometimes they are outdated, but they can still help) and relevant information, such as:
a.Puertas: Provides information regarding the street number/s the building has in the same street or streets, if it is located on a corner (Note: In Buenos Aires, many residential buildings have businesses on the ground floor with their own street number, and numbers for garage doors). But sometimes it could be vague and not pinpointing exactly the door we are looking for.
b.Barrio: Provides information about the neighborhood in which the pin is located. Argentina’s CSGs specifies that addresses inside CABA should have neighborhoods as localities (this means that, if an address in CABA returns “Buenos Aires” as a locality, it must be corrected, and “Buenos Aires” should be replaced with the correct neighborhood, for example: Palermo or San Nicolás).
c.Código postal: This tool can also be used to check postal codes, but it could have some mistakes sometimes, so, double check with    the official postal service in Argentina:https://www.correoargentino.com.ar/formularios/cpa

Addresses in Buenos Aires province

For addresses outside of CABA please first use Correo Argentino to see if the address exists and to verify postal code. *Some address in Gran Buenos Aires appear in the CABA government map. Then this map can also be used to find an address outside CABA, but there won’t be pictures and the information is different. Instead of Barrio, the column of information will state the Localidad (locality) and Partido (county).

Also bear in mind that sometimes it is very difficult to determine the exact locality inside Gran Buenos Aires or also called conurbano bonaerense, so we have to check it through different map servers.

Sources not to use

Clearly unreliable sources should not be considered at all, Never use these for example:

argentino.com.ar
guiaclarin.com

www.paginasblancas.com.ar

miguiaargentina.com.ar

infobel.com

paginasamarillas.com.ar

argentinadirectorio.com guialocal.com.ar www.dateas.com ar.ypgo.net

listings.findthecompany.com

These pages show what we call white pages listing (a listing of a person’s name and personal address) and business registered to owners’ names and home addresses for tax purposes only, but the business is not always at the address shown, see CSGL 5.2.
