Most analysts rate Address Verification tasks same way as Search 2.0 tasks however there are some fundamental differences between Search 2.0 and Address Verification task types. We would highly encourage to thoroughly read and understand the Global guidelines for Address Verification for rating the Address (section 7) and Pin (section 6) whenever the address is valid or invalid and reasonable.
Below are some of the tables and notes from the GLs which clearly state difference between “Search” and “Address Verification” tasks:
Section 1 (Introduction) Page 2 talks about the difference between the two task types “Search” and “Address verification”
Task Type | Pin | Address |
Search | Reflects the result | Rated independently of the query |
Address Verification | Reflects the query address (not the response address) | Response address rated based on how accurately it reflects the query address |
Every query that returns a response address will show a pin on the map. You will rate the accuracy of each pin’s placement in relation to the query address using this scale: Perfect, Approximate, Next Door, Wrong, Can’t Verify
Note: While in Maps Search the pin should be a reflection of the result address, in Address Verification, the pin is a reflection of the query address (when the address is either Valid or Invalid but Reasonable).
You will rate the response addresses for all query addresses you rated Valid and Invalid but Reasonable. To evaluate the quality of a response address, you must compare it to the Valid query address.
Note: While in Maps Search result addresses are rated independently, in Address Verification, you must rate response addresses in relation to the query address.
